If you decide to drive to Piedras Negras, Coahuila you can cross the border thought two bridges, The Eagle Pass International Bridge I & II, both bridges are near the clinic, you need to consult with you car insurance if they cover you in Mexico.
You can park your car in the US side and safely wall across the border, if you preferred you can cross with your car and park it in a secure parking lot, the price vary from $4 - $8 dollars a day.
